Sushi Kame
My faveorite Sushi Restaurant in Champaign-Urbana is Sushi Kame. Located downtown, this restaurant has a huge menu and a welcoming staff. For me, good sushi is all about the ingredients. The veggies and fish in the Sushi at Sushi Kame always taste fresh and delicious. They also serve your sushi on a little boat, which is adorable. If you are considering checking Sushi Kame, here are the menu items I have tried and reccomend:
- Spicy Tuna Roll: A classic sushi choice. This roll is just rice, raw tuna, and a spicy sauce. The fresh tuna is always delicious and the sauce has a nice level of spice. I don't find it to be very spicy, so even those weary of spicy food would likely enjoy this roll.
- Volcano roll: This roll is an upgraded California roll. In addition to the crab, avocado, and cucumber in a typical california roll, the volcano roll adds crunchy flakes, spicy sauce, and eel sauce on top. I like this roll because it changes the flavor of a california roll so much. While a normal califoria roll can be kind of borning, the volcano roll has a lot of sauce and texture which make it interesting and filling.
- A.A.C Roll: At $4.95, the avocado, asparagus, cucumber roll is my faveorite add-on item. The avocado makes it creamy, while the asparaugs and cucumber have a healthy crunch.
- White Dragon Roll: I like this roll a lot because it is so unique. It's got spicy scallops and white tuna, topped with a green tea mayo. I had to try this for the interesting mayo itself, and the roll did not disapoint. The scallops are soft and buttery, and the mayo is really delicious.
